The Head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde is scheduled to visit Ghana ahead of the country’s completion of the program with the Fund.
Miss Largarde’s trip to Ghana is scheduled for December 16 to 18, 2018.
Deputy Information Minister, Pius Hadzide disclosed this at a media briefing on Wednesday [December 12, 2018].
According to him, the IMF boss’ visit ‘marks an appreciation of Ghana’s policy direction and solid economic fundamentals.’
Amongst others, she will have bilateral talks with President Akufo Addo.
She is also expected to host a session with officials of the Bank of Ghana, private sector, think tanks as well as academia.
Ghana entered into a three year agreement with the IMF for an extended credit facility of 918 million dollars.
This was to support the country’s economy to restore its growth pattern.
So far, the Fund has completed six reviews which have resulted in total disbursements under the arrangement to US$764.1 million.
