The Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF) has called on the government to look into issues surrounding the Ghana National Single Window Software.

This they say will aid smooth operations of the system at the ports.

West Blue Consulting has sued Ghana Link Network Services, Customs UNI-PASS International Agency and Work Smart Limited for allegedly cloning their single window software.

West Blue is seeking an order from the court to restrain the three companies, their directors, agents or anyone acting in their names from using its software as part of the UNIPASS system which was recently contracted by government.

The suit, filed at the Commercial Division of the Accra High Court, is against Ghana Link Network Services Ltd, Customs UNI-PASS International Agency of Korea (CUPIA, Korea) and Word Smart Ltd.

Speaking to Citi Business News, the National Technical Committee Member of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders Kwaku Okyere Darko called on the government to step in to resolve the issues.

“There are laws governing the termination of contracts and awarding of contracts.  So if UNI-PASS has won a contract from government to take over whatever West Blue Consultancy is doing and it is legitimate and has gone through the due process, why not? I mean nobody has qualms with that but if it is true that the system was actually cloned then we will impress on government to really look into it,” he said.

“Whether it is an allegation or a true story, because if it is a true story, then it means that it is not good for Ghana, the government and even UNI-PASS as wel,l” he added.

West Blue signed an agreement with the government in 2015 to provide a single window platform as part of efforts to integrate the systems of service providers at the country’s ports and facilitate the clearing of goods without paperwork.
