Minister of State in charge of Agriculture, Dr Nurah Gyiele has reiterated government’s commitment to provide livestock farmers with locally made feed.

This is aimed at government’s policy of Raring for Food and Jobs announced in the 2019 National Budget Statement.

At a ceremony to establish a feed manufacturing factory, Dr. Gyiele assured that farmers will soon heave a sigh of relief as more of such facilities will be established in the country.

The factory, KOUDIJS, located at the Tema Free Zones enclave has a production capacity of 90,000 tons of animal feed per annum.

According to the directors of the company, the factory will be completed by the end of the year.

They also believe the construction of the plant will provide Ghanaian farmers the technical know -how in feed production.

Director of Koudjis Hugo Visscher speaking to Citi Business News said the company is hoping to be accepted as part of the one district one factory program to provide employment for Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, Minister of state in charge Agriculture, Dr. Nurah Gyiele commended the gesture and said he is confident the new feed factory will solve to some extent feed shortage issues faced in Ghana.

Some farmers who spoke to Citi Business News called for a reduction in the price of feed and said they are hopeful the introduction of feed in the country will help reduce cost of feed which they say is very expensive.
